This circuit is a VHF (Very High Frequency) preamplifier for the band two spectrum tuning approx. 88 – 108 MHz.
The 2N3819 FETs are connected in cascode mode in the circuit. The lower one operates in common source mode and the other one operates in common gate mode. The preamplifier provides full high frequency gain. Additionally the lower FET is tunable allowing a peak for a particular radio station.
The coil details are given in the circuit page.
