Looking to make use of your old hard drives? This project presents instructions for creating a hard drive speaker system to use in conjunction with a player.
A hard drive uses the same technology for its arm as a traditional loudspeaker by applying the right waveform and it will produce sound. Remove the top cover of your hard drive. Remove all the platters, so you can access the arm that has its coil between magnets. Then you need to solder to trace the wires coming from the coil. You can connect your amplifier to different points until you hear something and it vibrates to allow you to hear the music.
