Building the SmartLock Device

Figure:1

Figure 1

The SmartLock pertains to a locking function that prevents automatic retuning despite changing antenna loads as it provides two external controls for the SG-230.

The SG-230 is an antenna coupler that intelligently couples any length of antenna from about 3 to 27 meters. It does not require preliminary tuning and with any HF transceiver in the 1.6 to 30 MHz range with output power from 3 to 200 Watts, the Smartuner will operate properly. 64 inputs are evaluated and switched automatically by the SG-230 along with combinations of 32 output capacitance. Also, over half a million precision matches are possible with the 256 inductance combinations in a pi network. The chosen frequency and tuning values are remembered by the Smartuner and those values are reselected automatically. This occurs each time the frequency selected in less than 10ms.

The SmartLock contains a reset function that forces the Smartuner into a retune cycle until the signal is transmitted again or the receiver/scan is allowed in a broadband antenna mode. When the SG-230 achieves a match, a tuned LED also indicates locally. The feature of SG-230 provides operational and logistical flexibility for expeditioners without lugging around experience.
