A more standard motor driver, the L298HN is being used for the purpose of controlling one 12V DC motor with the aid of a PIC microcontroller.
In order to drive the motor fast, slow, forward, and backward, the L298 will require two PWM inputs since the developed software will be able to control the motor speed and direction without any problem. The software used in the project is very simple wherein a PWM signal is generated at 1KHz and input into the motor driver using the Port B on the PIC. The frequency of the PWM is dependent upon the motor activity.
The development board has a simple layout which features a 20MHz clock while the DC power required by the board is provided by the 9V transformer or could also be a 9V battery. The PIC programmer consists of an In-Circuit Debugger which signifies that the programmer does not only programs, but also features debugging capabilities.
The DC motor will be powered by 12V source while the motor will be connected to the power and ground, causing the motor to spin. A DB-9 serial cable is used for communication with the PC.
