A reversible DC motor can be controlled to spin clockwise and counterclockwise using this circuit which only has a single switch for single control signal.
An H-bridge may be described as a series of four controllable switches in which there are two sets of two switches. The electricity is allowed to flow one way when one set of switches is closed while the other set of switches allows the flow of electricity in the opposite direction. Using an H-bridge on a smaller voltage device to control a much larger voltage device is another important characteristic of an H-bridge. These two separate voltage sources are kept isolated from one another.
Making an H-bridge can be achieved with either 4 transistors or 4 relays but the best type of H-bridge is made with transistors since these can be used easily to control the speed of a motor. It is quite difficult to use relays for an H-bridge unless the motor voltage is supplied from a power source capable of being modulated.
During the operation, the motor will spin as fast as it can in one direction and also in the other direction when reversed.
