The project was a modification of a JDM PIC programmer and has to be connected through the serial communication port of the computer without the use of any external power supply.
The design of PIC programmer makes it easy to build and is compact having a 50mm x 62mm. The state of the burning process is indicated by the 3 LEDs consisting of red for burning, yellow for clock signal, and green for power supply. A connection between Pin 10 (JDM) and Vss instead of VDD exist in the original JDM programmer while the modification makes it possible to program PIC microcontroller with LVP function.
In the component side of the PIC programmer, the use of NPN transistor is not very critical since any small signal types can probably be chosen. All resistors are common with ¼ Watts and 5% tolerance and the capacitors are 16 Volts type. The SUB-D connector is female with 9 pins. In the software side, this PIC programmer is used in combination with the free Windows software IC-Prog which supports this modified JDM programmer. This software is needed in order to copy the hex codes from hard disk to the PIC.
Wire-to-board interconnection options from Sullins feature a wide range of sizes and applications
MCC’s TVS series high-power suppressors protect sensitive components from voltage spikes and transients
Evaluation boards that streamline evaluating circuit protection on RS-485 serial device ports
2 years ago: The circuit was neatly done! Bravo! Let's make some bucks!!!
2 years ago: JDM programmer also works with PICPgm Programmer Software which is very easy to use!
