Media Center IR Remote Control Receiver

Figure:1

Figure 1

The infrared remote control receiver project was created in order to handle any function or software installed in the Media Center of PC and can also be used for Media center power ON/OFF even in power-off, standby, or hibernate mode.

The components used to build the circuit are ordinary except for ATtiny13. The infrared receiver at 30kHz is the IC1. When the Media Center gets a High level by IC2, the T2 makes the switch ON/OFF. Connected to the power switch at the motherboard of the PC is the K2 by means of two diodes to make the connection. In order to turn ON/OFF the Media Center with both remote control and power ON/OFF switch of the case, K1 is connected to the power button of the PC case. K3 can work on both real RS232 ports and USB-to-RS232 converters since it is connected to RS232 port of the Media Center.

A 20-pin ATX connector can be used for the +5V supply with the specific +5VSB cable since it is the only cable that has+5V when the computer is in power-off, standby, and hibernate mode. The Ground is connected to black cables.
