The project is built around the PICAXE 08M microcontroller for creating a programmable LED sequencer/flasher.
Compared to the Pro-Flash controller, the Mini-Flash contains the same features with the only difference of being able to control only 4 LED channels instead of 8. The neat controller is programmable in a BASIC-like language. The ability to reprogram the LED sequencer is also included in this project using a PC-based program that has an intuitive and unique Graphical User Interface.
The Mini-Flash can also be reprogrammed using the servo lead which is normally plugged into a spare channel for control. This is done through a 9-pin serial port connection to a computer and programming cable. The LED sequence developed can be tested using free downloadable programming software that utilizes the use of software-based graphical representations of the 4 LED channels.
The user can also program the sequence speed where each sequence contains 50 events and each of the 4 LED channels can be either ON or OFF for every events. A sequence with fewer events can also be developed. The circuit includes a control for each of the 4 channels to allow the use of R/C servo.
