Minimalist Oscilloscope Project by PicAxe 08M

Figure:1

Figure 1

The project was built by connecting a Nokia Phone LCD screen to a PicAxe 08M microcontroller to create a very simple and small oscilloscope.

During the construction of the circuit, the individual strands from 22 gauge stranded wire is used as it runs from the circuit board pads and to a 0.1 inch socket that has been handmade. Although soldering the components is quite difficult especially soldering surface mount wires, doing it one at a time can still complete the job.

The circuit was simply built on a breadboard while making a simple program to be used for testing that the LCD interfacing is being done properly. The code that was made could cause a delay for a trigger at half the peak to peak of the signal on the rising edge. No signal will be detected during the idle time. The signal should have 42 measurements which should be stored in an array. The LCD screen will be used to display the measurements.

The oscilloscope sweeps right to left and a slight delay occurs between the time it detects half of the peak to peak signal on the rising edge as it starts measuring.
