The project is known as the Drink Making Unit which has been designed to create custom mixes of drinks.
Since this device is limited to cocktails with 3 ingredients, it contains a 3-valve combo. During the operation, messages are displayed by an 8×8 RGB LED matrix. To siphon the liquids, the machine actually uses breast pumps which make them hygienic as well as economic in cost and power usage.
Making the drink consists of simple procedures wherein the controller buttons are pressed in sequence in which the ingredients need to be added. The liquids from the containers are sucked up by the pump which uses a valve to pump them into a glass, through the ice bucket and into the cup.
The LED matrix used can be of different varieties. It comes with a backpack that has been designed to take SPI serial input and display any graphics passed to it. The backpack takes care of all the refreshing and communication control. It can be programmable with 7 selectable colors available from software. Assembled with a RGB Matrix Backpack, the unit can come with a Red, Green, and Blue Matrix.
