The project aims to provide the ability to take decent pictures and decent video by mounting a camera and a camcorder in a single tripod.
The Canon camera is able to take pictures but the audio coverage is not good. The Canon Vixia HFR10 camcorder has the ability to shoot HD video as it directly records to SD memory cards while having a microphone input. A 1/8 inch audio connection between the mic and camcorder will be used to feed audio into the camcorder from a microphone. The ability to record to the built-in micro SD card and sync the audio and video in post production is made possible since the microphone is also a stereo recorder.
To allow mounting to the tripod mount and provide two spots to attach the camcorder and the camera, a quick and dirty bracket was made. The bracket was cut on the V90 CNC machine out of ½ inch plywood while being designed in CAD along with bolts and nut. A 2-part epoxy fixes the nut in place and followed by a blast of black spray paint and a quick sand.
