pH Meter Using Arduino Board

Figure:1

Figure 1

The pH meter project features open software and open hardware design circuit which can be connected with an electrode pH sensor made of glass.

pH is a measure of the basicity or acidity of a solution since it is a very important property in aqueous solutions. It takes into account an activity factor that represents that represents the tendency of hydrogen ions to interact with other components of the solution which affects other things like the electrical potential read using a pH meter. The hydrogen ion activity coefficient are based on theoretical calculation and cannot be measured directly.

The device is termed as pHduino which can operate by displaying the pH and the temperature data using LCD display. Using a USB port, a computer can also control this device and using the trim pots provide manual adjustments of the signal offset and the signal gain while a temperature sensor compensates the signal.

The project is not intended to be a high resolution analytical instrument to compete with a commercial pH meter but it is easy to understand, different, simple, and easy to modify. Other features include being programmable, open/free, expansible, and easily interfaced.
