An 8-pin PIC12F675 microcontroller that is clocked with 4MHz internal clock generator controls all Pong game in this simple project.
The design of the circuit is based on a few components where video output is a combination of two resistors that form simple DAC compliant for TV video with 75 Ohms input. The concept of operation came from the VCR Pong project but with the elimination of most of the external components in order to further develop the simplicity of the project. There is no need of the crystal because the PIC12F675 microcontroller contains an internal 4MHz clock generator. The 12F675 part also operates on wide voltage range where the regulator can be excluded.
There are two potentiometers that comprise the control part used for the positioning on the screen and triggering of button. A prototype board is used to assemble the schematic which makes a good impression on the simplicity of construction and yet playing can be started by connecting this video game system. An old Commodore 64-style paddles are used as the game controllers. They include firing buttons which can also be used as a power switch and a game reset.
