PWM Controller for Creating LED Rainbow

Figure:1

Figure 1

This LED rainbow project creates a RGB LED PWM controller with minimal amount of components including a PIC processor.

The color changing effects with RGB LED lighting products is generated by the LED Rainbow which is a dedicated Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controller. It is capable of driving RGB LEDs, or individual Red, Green, and Blue LEDs to producing amazing effects. Three outputs are controlled by the circuit where each has the ability to run an LED segment. It is natural for the control of RGB LED arrays with three segments.

Contained in the microcontroller are the sequences which are fully customizable and it has the ability to cycle, fade, and strobe the lighting where a massive palette of over 16 million colors are created using PWM technology. A range of 256 intensities is given to each color by a resolution of 8 bits from each output. A full rainbow of color combinations is possible when the three colors are mixed together.

The LED Rainbow is very economical using industry standard components and running off of a standard 12-15V power supply. The placement of components is guided with a detailed silk screen.
