The project illustrates a security robot that can be controlled and viewed over the internet.
A 48” electric car for kids is the planned final version with an attached network camera. The camera and the microcontroller signals will be transmitted by the onboard Linksys router to a second Linksys router at the remote location and attached to the internet cable. The model of wireless router is Linksys WRT54G. The router is used to bridge to the home router in order to function as the wireless modem.
The two components to the Internet Interface include a Visual Basic program as the first component that sends and receives commands to the cubloc and the second component is the cubloc program that receives the commands, controls the cubloc, and turns ON and OFF the outputs.
The Visual Basic program was modified to automatically connect the router through its IP address when the Connect button is pressed. The simple 4-digit commands to the car are sent by the grid of buttons on the right. The forward commands are issued by the buttons above the red square. The reverse commands are issued by buttons below the red box.
