Shipping Scale Converted from Bathroom Scale

The project shows how a digital bathroom scale has been converted to a shipping scale in order to weigh medium to large items and boxes for shipping.

The scale used has the features of Silver color ABS platform over black metal case, 150kg maximum capacity, tap start, LCD display, 9VDC battery, and auto shut OFF. In opening the scale, the display should be at north position with the scale facing up and the display away from the user. Remove the battery after flipping over the north and south switch. Extra care should be observed when removing the parts so that the components will not knock out of place especially the way the beams are hung.

The display circuit card, switch, and battery holder will be removed together since the display is wired to the load cell with 4 wires. A drawing can be useful to take note which color wire goes to which connection on both the card and the load cell. One end of the new cable should be soldered to the wires of load cell while feeding the cable out through one of the battery holder holes in the base.
