The project is a standalone LED test tool that is foolproof and very useful for anyone who is into recycling old electronics.
The creation of this LED tester was due to the old habit of selecting an LED for a project since LEDs come in various shapes and colors so there are several features that needs to be considered such as the actual color of LED when lit, the current needed for the desired brightness, the resistor size needed to achieve the current or brightness, and choosing which wire lead on the LED is the anode (positive) and which is the cathode (negative).
As a power source, a 9V battery is being used by the LED tester while providing portability and does not monopolize the bench variable power supply. The 9V battery is attached to the PCB using double-sided tape although the more consistent methodology is by using something removable like attaching with fasteners. When the circuit is idle, it does not consume any measurable power and when briefly lighting an LED it only uses between 2mA and 26mA. This causes the battery to last for so many years and scrap the tape.
