Touch Screen Implemented on a Scooter

Figure:1

Figure 1

The project is known as Scooterputer which utilizes Touch Shield Slide OLED display with touch screen along with some hardware that are based on Arduino Duemilanove.

A proto Shield PCB is used for mounting the Touch Shield Slide. The power and ground is provided by the CAT-5 connector that is connected to the PCB using telephone wire which connects to the RxD and TxD signals from the Dueminalove to the display.

Some of the features of the scooterputer include using GSM/GPRS quad-band cellular module and compass heading readout as well as latitude and longitude readouts. The max speed indicator and the two trip meters can be reset. Also seen in the design are the battery voltage indicator, temperature, time & date, current speed, and lean gauge with resettable max L-R indicators.

The sketches are downloaded by the Touch Shield using pins 0 and 1. They are free for use by the GPS by using the Program Switch to disconnect the Touch Shield Slide from these pins when not downloading. A 3.3V regulator provides power to GPS. Serial communication is required by the 3 devices including GPS, Touch Shield Slide, and Cell Module.
