This simple device is used to control the power ON and OFF of a personal computer with the used of ultra infrared receiver that is connected through the USB cable.
The device consists of green LED which indicates a signal pertaining power ON/OFF and a red LED which illustrates the infrared signals being received. The two LEDs are represents the version of the USB which was 2.0. A conventional remote control unit is utilized to control the operation of a PC. The types of remote controls were those used in televisions with a rating of 38 KHz RC-5.
The infrared receiver could be a new TSOP which is more sensitive and more efficient with energy consumption. To enable the current motherboards and newer PCs to be compatible with this device, the wiring of the USB was optimized. This was made possible since the data lines of the USB were reduced from 5 V to 3.3 V.
The comfort that this device gives to the user is the main advantage of its functionality. Everything that concerns with audio and video on a PC can be achieved with the use of this infrared receiver circuit.
