The circuit uses the functionality of vacuum tubes to create a stereo amplifier that may be used to amply signals coming from different sources such as CD or mp3 players.
Vacuum tubes are electronic components that can be compared to transistors in the same way they handle large amount of current with only a little current. They are very bulky and because they consume a great amount of power, they easily get very hot. Some people will not appreciate the use of tubes but others would still prefer to utilize them even if it involves high voltage and current.
In dealing with this circuit, there are capacitors connected which should be taken into consideration since the capacitors used in this amplifier will maintain a charge for a longer time even after the power has been switched OFF. The discharging of the capacitor is via the resistor to the ground and to make sure that the capacitor has been completely discharged, a voltmeter can be used across it.
During the initial testing of the amplifier, a 12 V power brick can be used for safety rather than connecting it directly into the wall socket.
