The project aims to create a wireless servo controller that will allow the control of two servo motors remotely as well as for wireless camera tracking or other robotics project.
This device can control any standard servos where the RF controller controls with a very little latency since it is mainly dependent on the latency of servos. Both receiver and transmitter use a 24G 2.4GHz wireless modules. A PIC18LF2550 microcontroller, running at 16MHZ speed, is used by the receiver along with a firmware written by using CCS PIC C compile. The project can be a powerful remote tracking system if a manual joystick control is employed.
The basis for a pan-tilt configuration is the PIC18LF2550 Wireless Servo Controller which can be used for remote monitoring, as a webcam, or for color/object tracking. A 9V battery is used as the power supply together with a high-accuracy low-dropout linear voltage regulator where a stable 3V supply is provided for the microcontroller and the receiver. Another high-accuracy low-dropout voltage regulator is used to provide a stable 5V supply for the servos. The spikes or ripples are prevented on the voltage regulators outputs using polarized decoupling capacitors.
