Soldering iron temperature depends on what you are soldering. To solder THT components you need soldering iron which provides around 220 Degree centigrade.

For soldering SMD components special soldering iron is required its temperature is around 200 degree centigrade.

Soldering iron tip should not be placed on component leads or terminals for more than 5 seconds. Tweezers can be used to remove excess temperatures so that better soldering can be done by keeping soldering iron tip foe up to 8 seconds on terminals.
