I'm the co-founder of the Barr Group. Our mission is to help engineers improve the overall reliability and security of their embedded systems and applications. I used to be an adjunct professor of electrical and computer engineering with many years of hands-on software design and implementation experience.
Although it’s a bit embarrassing to say this, I'm internationally recognized as an expert in the field of embedded software process and architecture. In fact, I've been admitted as a testifying expert witness in U.S. and Canadian court cases involving issues of reverse engineering (including DMCA), interception of encrypted signals (Federal Communications Act), patent infringement, theft of copyrighted source code (including trade secrets issues), and product liability.
I'm proud to say that my software has powered millions of embedded devices. In addition to holding several patents, I'm also the author of three books and more than seventy published articles and papers about embedded systems design.
